Asha Belarski is an Indian American female leader at GE Aerospace who is the General Manager and Executive Director of the Defense Customer Support and Sustainment team. Asha graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with her BSCEE in 2004 and from the University of Cincinnati with her MSME in 2008. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Asha is married to Justin and is the mom of two girls (Nova – 7, and Meera 4). Asha is currently a GE Aerospace Foundation Board of Directors’ member and is also on the Board of Directors for YMCA Camp Campbell Gard.
From a young age, Asha has always enjoyed giving back to her community. Her first significant experience in altruism was during high school though volunteering as a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Campbell Gard. In college, Asha was a member of Engineering Student Council, Society of Women Engineers, a freshman peer counselor, and she served as a student ambassador to recruit students interested in engineering to the University of Pittsburgh.
After starting her career at GE, Asha became very engaged in the March of Dimes and served on the planning committee for the GE Cincinnati walk team of ~1000 walkers for 10 years. She also engaged in a variety of community volunteering events each year that ranged from Earth Day clean ups, to food bank sorting and math tutoring at a partner high school. But her most impactful area of volunteering was as a long standing Girl Scout Troop leader within the community. As a young engineer, Asha started a troop and recruited 3 other GE women to serve with her as assistant troop leaders to 15 girls in the Woodlawn, OH community. The village was in need of troop leaders for their 1st grade Brownie Troop and Asha filled the void. Asha took the initiative to lead, organize and structure the program for their girls for 12 years. Over those 12 years, Asha and her co-leaders would teach the girls about helping others, being curious, being creative and learning the skills they would need to be successful young women passionate about their community. Eight girls continued through the 12 years through high school and college, many choosing to pursue STEM fields; Asha would continue to connect with these young ladies as they moved through college and beyond. Asha is a person who connects and grows with people, and her ability to cultivate and maintain relationships is a core value she brings to all her endeavors.
After this time, Asha became a mother of 2 young girls and turned her attention towards engagement in GE’s women’s network as well as Asian Pacific American Forum (APAF). She helped champion the APAF Women’s Collaborative for several years leading the group on topics around leadership and self-growth, facilitated by Ted talks and book clubs. She also co-led the Cincinnati Women’s network for GE of ~2000 members for 2 years. Asha is an engaging leader, and during the challenging years of 2022-2023 after COVID had impacted many of the employee resource groups momentum, Asha helped re-energize the Cincinnati Women’s Network through her collaborative and authentic approach.
At home, Asha serves as a volunteer with her daughter, Nova’s girl scout troop and is the assistant coach of Nova’s softball team, teaching the girls about working as a team, and encouraging each other to learn and grow from their experiences. She considers herself the “bench coach”, keeping the girls’ energies and spirits up as they go out to bat. Its important to have a coach that knows how to pick you up when you need it. Asha is also on the YMCA Camp Campbell Gard Board of Directors, coaching the non-profit how develop children through camping, something that was very impactful for her as a child and young adult.
As a standalone company, GE Aerospace has created a Board of Directors of the GE Aerospace Foundation April 2024, and Asha was selected to be one of 9 people on the This will be a great opportunity for Asha to help guide the foundation as it moves forward. The Foundation is focused on three key areas: expanding STEM education programs that promote a diverse workforce; developing a robust pipeline to support advanced manufacturing careers; and responding to major global disasters and humanitarian crises. It also supports employees in their personal philanthropy, worldwide, with a Matching Gifts program for eligible non-profit organizations.
Asha is deserving of this nomination due to her consistent commitment to philanthropy, in both her household and work community alike. Whether it be engaging as a Board member with the camp she attended as a child, or through GE volunteering, Asha cares deeply about growing and investing in her community. Her recent appointment to the GE Foundation BOD is a way for her impact to continue in a broader way.
