Since 2010, Angie has been a cornerstone of the Dragon Boat scene, co-founding the DragonBytes team and leading it to numerous successes, including a remarkable 1st place finish in the C Division in their inaugural year. Her dedication extended to the establishment of the Semi-Dragons team in 2012 and the mentoring of the ThunderTrucks team in 2023, showcasing her commitment to fostering talent and promoting camaraderie within the Asian community. Through her engagement with city officials, vendors, teams, and the Portland Kaohsiung Sister City Association (PKSCA), Angie Chen has enriched the cultural fabric of the event and strengthened community ties.

In addition to her on-water achievements, Angie Chen has played a crucial role in the organization of the Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race as a Race Committee member since 2022. Her involvement in the logistics and planning processes ensures the seamless execution of the event, underscoring her commitment to excellence and inclusivity.

Beyond the Dragon Boat arena, Angie has made significant contributions to youth sports development through her involvement in volleyball coaching. Beginning in 2010, Angie volunteered her time and expertise to coach middle school girls, guiding them to tournament victories and instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. Her coaching journey expanded to include a regional championship with a youth club team in 2021 and a successful season with a high school JV2 team in 2023, further showcasing her dedication to nurturing young athletes and promoting a culture of excellence.
